Over the course of the pandemic, we have witnessed a nationwide increase in the number of hate crimes, hate speech, and other hateful rhetoric committed against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. These incidents are rooted in a long history of racism and bias. We acknowledge this history and the impact it has on many members of our Lincolnwood community.
We want to reiterate the importance of our responsibility as a community to make Lincolnwood a place that values diversity and where every person, regardless of their identity, can truly feel that they matter and belong.
We hope that you will use the Lincolnwood Library’s materials, events, and expertise to find information and resources to help educate yourself, your families, and your communities. We stand in solidarity with our Asian and Pacific Islander communities. This will require all of us to take action against injustice and work together to create inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.
Hate has no home in Lincolnwood.
