Associate - Adult Services

Lincolnwood Library is seeking a friendly, sociable person who enjoys connecting with new faces. The selected candidate will play a key role in facilitating lifelong learning for our adult patrons through assisting with programming and providing frontline help at the service desk. With each patron interaction, we have a new opportunity to show them the excellent benefits of the library which include books and so much more! 

We’re a small, beautifully renovated library situated between the city and the suburbs of Chicago. Despite the size of our building, we offer a robust slate of services. The ideal candidate will have flexibility in their schedule and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to our adult patrons.
• Assist with programming and special events.
• Troubleshoot and offer guidance on technology questions such as basic computer help, scanning or copying documents, and utilizing online resources.

Minimum Qualifications:  Associate’s Degree or two years of comparable experience. Intermediate to advanced computer and information technology skills. One year experience working or volunteering with adults in a public library or educational setting preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• $20.50/hour
• 36 hours of vacation per year, increasing to 63 hours of vacation after the first year
• 43.2 hours of sick leave per year
• Paid holidays if the holiday falls on a regularly scheduled workday
• One floating holiday (to be taken within a designated period)

Hours:  18 hours per week. Preference for Monday/Thursday evenings and alternating weekend availability.
