This Nintendo Switch kit comes with the main Nintendo Switch screen, two Joy-con controllers, two wrist straps, a USB-C charger, HDMI cable, grip controller mount, and a dock.

It is great for flexible gaming by supporting multiple ways to use it whether you’re gaming on the go or at home, and supports online and local play and multiplayer modes.

You can check out an extra set of two (2) Joy-con controllers from the library or pair this kit with other controllers you own.

You may need to charge the Library Nintendo Switch when you first check it out. Use the included USB-C power adapter either through plugging the Switch into its dock and the cable or simply plug the Nintendo Switch console directly into the USB-C power adapter.

You can also charge the included Joy-con controllers by sliding them into the rails on either side of the device.

Power on

Press and hold the power button on the upper left edge of the touch screen for 3-5 seconds.

Get to the home screen

Press any button to wake the Switch up.

Then, on the included red or blue Joy-con controllers, press any button three times.

Connect controllers

Pairing using the rails on the side of the screen

Slide the Joy-cons into the side rails of the Switch to easily pair them for use.

Wirelessly pair

From the Switch home screen, open the Controllers menu.

Select Change Grip/Order.

On the Grip/Order screen, pick up the Joy-con(s) and hold the small black circle SYNC button on the side between the SL and SR buttons.

The Joy-con controllers should automatically pair with the Switch and display on the Grip/Order screen if you need to customize them.

Using the Joy-cons

The included red and blue Joy-cons can be connected to the Switch itself, to the wrist straps, or the to Joy-con controller grip.

They can also be used wirelessly without being connected to any accessories at all.

To insert them, simply slide them down on accessory rails until they firmly click.

Remove Joy-cons from accessories

To remove the Joy-cons from being attached to any accessories to change them to a different accessory or to pack them up, Press the circle button next to the R or L buttons and then slide them off.

Insert a game

Gently pull open the cartridge slot on the upper right edge of the screen.

Insert a cartridge with the gold contact points facing away from the display. When inserted correctly cartridges will give a little click and recoil slightly.

Gently close the cartridge slot on the upper right of edge of the screen.

Start playing!

Once you’ve inserted the cartridge, it should appears as an icon in the middle of the home screen.

Use the touch screen or either of Joy-con joysticks to highlight the game icon.

Press A to select the game and start it.

Game controls vary. The best games will train you on their controls in introductory levels in a fun and engaging way.

Turn off and sleep mode

Make sure to remove any game cartridges.

Press and hold the power button on the upper left edge of the touch screen for 3-5 seconds. Then select Power Options and choose from Sleep Mode, Restart, and Turn Off, or Close the menu if you’ve changed your mind and don’t actually want to turn the Switch off. This is the only way to fully turn off the Nintendo Switch.

Or use the touch screen or either of the Joy-con joysticks to select Power Options and then select Sleep mode.
