Charge and turn on
Plug the included power cord into an outlet and the circular plug on the bottom left of the Chromebook. A white light appears when it’s pluged in correctly. Expect battery life to be around 8-10 hours from a full charge.
Open the Chromebook. In the upper right corner of the keyboard, press the power button which is just above the backspace key. The Chromebook should turn on very quickly.
In the bottom bar of the screen that loads, click Browse as Guest toward the lower left corner.
Go to settings
In the lower right corner of the screen, click on the time.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Click the text Not connected beneath the Wi-Fi symbol. From the list, click the name of your home Wi-Fi network or the name of the Lincolnwood Library Hotspot if you also checked one of those out.
If the network has a lock next to it and requires a password, type the password in the Join Wi-Fi network box that appears and click Connect.
If you turn off or log out of the Chromebook, you may have to go into settings and connect to Wi-Fi again.
Browse the web
It should hav eopened a blank web browser before you even connected to Wi-Fi. If not, click the Google Chrome icon which looks similar to a beach ball.
Click into the top address bar where it likely says Search Google or type a URL. Type in a search like “Lincolnwood weather” or a specific website address like https://www.lincolnwoodlibrary.org/ and hit the Enter key.
When you’re done using the Chromebook, click on the time in the lower right corner, and click the power button next to Exit guest (on the screen, but with the same icon as the physical button that’s just above the backspace key). Close the lid and unplug the power cable if you were charging the device.
