Summer reading officially began on June 6, and so far the program has been deliciously popular with our patrons. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Kickoff event! It was delightful.
These photos capture some of the evening’s highlights. In the photo above, we see scientist Steve Belliveau experimenting with kitchen chemistry. He used many of our audience members as assistants, and their wit and intelligence made us proud.
At left, Friends of the Lincolnwood Library President Georgia Talaganis holds up a display from our book title game. We constructed 40 sets of items meant to represent popular book titles that mention food. Georgia is holding a catcher’s mitt and a loaf of rye bread … can you guess the title that they represent?
This game was so popular that throughout the summer, we are going to display one or two similar setups per week near the Adult Services desk. Stop by and see if you’re up to the challenge.
We were seriously grossed out to learn some of the answers to our teens-only gross trivia. (Did you know that Canadians in the frozen north have been known to eat a jellied version of a moose’s nose? Ew.) The teens also enjoyed “kitty-litter” cake and other foods that looked gross but tasted delicious, we hate to admit.
Lincolnwood Library’s staff loved planning this event and we thank you so much for attending. Youth, keep chewing through those book logs, and adults, continue to write down your reading!
