Bluestem Award

American Library Association Awards

Batchelder Award
The Batchelder Award was named for Mildred L. Batchelder, a librarian who believed in championing good books for children in translation from all parts of the world. It is awarded annually to the publisher of the most outstanding book for children originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States, during the previous year. Caldecott Medal
The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children published during the previous year. Check out a list of past winning and honored titles.

Coretta Scott King Awards
The Coretta Scott King Awards were named in honor of the life and work of Mrs. Coretta Scott King and her husband, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They are awarded annually to the author and illustrator of the most outstanding books for young adults and children written or illustrated by African American authors that reflect the African American experience. The Geisel Award was named in honor of Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, a world-renowned author of books for children. Newbery Medal
The Newbery Medal was named in honor of eighteenth-century bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished American children’s book published the previous year. Check out a list of past winning and honored titles.

Odyssey Award
The Odyssey Award for Excellence in Audiobook Production is named for the epic poem The Odyssey, originally told and retold in the oral tradition but written down by Homer. It is awarded annually to the producer of the best audiobook produced for children and young adults published during the previous year. Pura Belpré Award
The Pura Belpré Award was named in honor of Pura Belpré, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. It is awarded annually to a Latinx writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latinx cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. Schneider Family Book Award

Sibert Medal
The Sibert Medal was named in honor of Robert F. Sibert, long-time President of Bound to Stay Bound Books.
