Youth & Teen Services Librarian

The Lincolnwood Public Library District is seeking a friendly, dynamic, outgoing librarian who loves kids of all ages to bring knowledge and experience to our team as a full-time Youth & Teen Services Librarian.

The perfect candidate will be a quirky, weird, creative, idea-generation machine who loves potentially slimy, gooey, all-hands-on-deck work with kids & teens in many capacities. This librarian will help to inspire and guide our department as youth & teen programming and outreach is reinvigorated and revitalized after the recent completion of a full library renovation.

Primary responsibilities include collection development (elementary-aged), planning and facilitating programs, reference and reader’s advisory assistance, and after-school behavior management. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to balance assertiveness with a calm demeanor, foster and implement boundless creative ideas that serve school aged patrons, as well as a passion for working closely with kids and teens.

Applications will be accepted until July 10. Salary range is $40,000-$48,000 DOQ annually with full competitive benefits. The position will begin work in late August. There is an opportunity for a higher starting salary if the candidate is willing and able to work a non-traditional schedule, such as Tuesday through Saturday, or second shift (1:00PM – 9:00PM). Minimum qualifications: MLIS from an ALA accredited graduate school. Two years’ experience working with youth and/or teens and their caregivers in an educational or public library setting preferred. Intermediate to advanced computer and information technology skills required.
