Youth & Teen Services Librarian

The Lincolnwood Public Library District is seeking a friendly, dynamic, outgoing librarian who loves kids of all ages to bring knowledge and experience to our team as a full-time Youth & Teen Services Librarian.

The perfect candidate will be a quirky, weird, creative, idea-generation machine who loves potentially slimy, gooey, all-hands-on-deck work with kids & teens in many capacities. This librarian will help to inspire and guide our department as youth & teen programming and outreach is reinvigorated and revitalized after the recent completion of a full library renovation.

Primary responsibilities include collection development (elementary-aged), planning and facilitating programs, reference and reader’s advisory assistance, and after-school behavior management. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to balance assertiveness with a calm demeanor, foster and implement boundless creative ideas that serve school aged patrons, as well as a passion for working closely with kids and teens.

To apply, email a cover letter, resume, and professional references to Emily Fardoux, Head of Youth & Teen Services, at efardoux@lincolnwoodlibrary.org. Only email submissions will be accepted.

Applications will be accepted until July 10. Salary range is $40,000-$48,000 DOQ annually with full competitive benefits. The position will begin work in late August. There is an opportunity for a higher starting salary if the candidate is willing and able to work a non-traditional schedule, such as Tuesday through Saturday, or second shift (1:00PM – 9:00PM). Details and possibilities for scheduling will be discussed during the interview process, but feel free to indicate your interest in your cover letter.

Minimum qualifications: MLIS from an ALA accredited graduate school. Two years’ experience working with youth and/or teens and their caregivers in an educational or public library setting preferred. Intermediate to advanced computer and information technology skills required.

The Lincolnwood Public Library District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
